Neighborhood Nature Exhibition, Brooklyn Children's MuseumIn September of 2008, Brooklyn Children's Museum underwent a large renovation to update their facility to attract new and repeat visitors. MurphyCatton was asked to be a part of the renovation, creating 6,000 square feet of hands-on, educational and interactive environments depicting nature and science. The Neighborhood Nature exhibition is a fun, innovative and multi-dimensional environment that teaches children about the different parts of nature. Interactive play areas inclue a pond, stream, urban woodland, community garden and a dune and beach vista. Each diorama is a realistic setting with artifacts, animal replicas and landscapes depicting real-life scenarios that encourage children to connect with nature. With interactive games and attractions, an aquarium, and several visual elements that draw the attention of the visitors, MurphyCatton's ability to visually and artistically bring the outdoors inside a true representation of our inventive craftsmanship and ability to bring a story to life. The Science Inquiry Center creates an inquisitive environment, encouraging children to participate in entertaining hands-on learning activities. With activities for drawing, playing word games, and creating multi-layered puzzles, children learn the basics of science by manipulating and experiencing the scientific world first-hand. From the design-a-shell and crafts to making your own critter, the unique activities found in Neighborhood Nature and the adjoining Science Inquiry Center spark the interst of the children and create educational opportunities for parents and teachers alike. |
