'Frog Bog' Exhibition, Newport AquariumCelebrating 2008 as the Year of the Frog, the Newport Aquarium in Northern Kentucky contracted MurphyCatton to design/build their Frog Bog interactive children's exhibition. With over 2,200 square feet of immersive play representing more than 20 exotic species of frogs, exciting climbing structures and video games you can jump on, this "please touch" fun environment encourages children to engage in play while learning about frogs from around the world. From the hand-drawn, three-dimensional wall paper created to give the visitors a frog's eye view of nature to the larger-than-life "talking" frogs, MurphyCatton used extreme fabrication expertise that supported the authentic recreation of frogs and their habitats. The multi-level climbing tree maze is one of the main attractions of the exhition with surround panels that make the children feel as if they are actually submerged in the frog world. While in the structure, children are able to peer through bubble tanks and secretly view behind the scenes into the husbandry area of the exhibit. Interactive touchscreens and video kiosks allow the children to see and hear how humans are affecting the frog habitats and demonstrate what they can do to help preserve frogs. |
