Make a Difference: The Miller Family Youth Exhibition, Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education CenterIn late March of 2009, MurphyCatton completed and installed the Make a Difference: The Miller Family Youth Exhibition for the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center. In combination with Kraemer Design + Production, MurphyCatton was able to successfully develop a unique 2,800 square foot children's exhibition geared towards 8-12 year olds in the quick time frame of 9 months. The exhibition features interpretive and interactive exhibits designed to engage the young visitors while helping them examine the ethical questions invovled in the Holocaust genocide. The challenges faced by MurphyCatton with depicting the Holocaust tragedy were second to none. MurphyCatton worked closely with the museum's historical and educational staff, along with Kraemer Design to ensure every detail of the project was historically accurate and appropriate for children. The exhibition resulted in giving the museum an opportunity to set learning standards at grade appropriate levels and encourage the visitors to explore the benefits of taking care of themselves and others. |
