Kentucky Gateway Museum CenterOne of the largest existing vitrines, at over 7 feet wide by 5.5 feet high, lies in the realms of the Kentucky Gateway Museum as it preserves the Spencer House, a replica of the historical house in London. However, the size of the vitrine was not the only challenge MurphyCatton faced when creating the beautiful case, it also needed to provide full 360 degree access to the client so the house could be properly preserved and decorated. With a strong background and reputation of casework fabrication, MurphyCatton was selected to design and engineer this unique vitrine, customizing it to fit the client's unusual needs. The vitrine has the capability to unlatch and be moved forward without moving the house or plynth it sits on. While the back door of the case has the ability to be unattached from the front 3 sides and top, when the vitrine is put back together it appears as if it is all one piece. The Kentucky Gateway Museum contracted MurphyCatton to fabricate multiple vitrines to complete the exhibit, in which each one was customized to the site and fitted to its individual space. The acrylic seams in all the cases hold museum quality standards with bubble free seams polished to a clear edge. |
