Little Yellow House Exhibition, Creative Discovery MuseumThe Little Yellow House exhibition was focused on the premise that "play is a young child's work." It was designed to allow children ages 18 months to 4 years to role-play the activities of daily living in a safe, educational and child-directed environment. This 1,000 square foot exhibition included a kitchen and laundry area, a patio with a picnic table and grill interactive, a garage and workshop area and a backyard complete with a climbing tree and doghouse. An infant garden was designed for the special needs of the very young child. It included special attention to the safety of the child and the needs of the caregiver. Interactives were designed to appeal to the developmental stages of the toddler and included; tactile elements, simple motion interactives, delightful auditory experiences and full-body activities. This was a project in which MurphyCatton was involved as a fully participating member of the team throughout the project, from design concept to completion. |
