McConnell-Chao Exhibition, University of LouisvilleIn 2009, the University of Louisville was given an unexpected donation to make way for a new exhibition in the university's Elksrom Library. With this new donaction came months of planning beginning with consulting the design firm, Solid Light, followed by the fabricaiton firm, MurphyCatton, to design, build and install the exhibition. The exhibition was titled the Civic Education Gallery and contained multiple individual exhibits, interactive kiosks and detailed graphic panels to educate visitors and tell the stories of U.S. Senator, Mitch McConnell and former Sectretary of Labor, Elaine Chao. Among the collection of artifacts included an assortment of papers and personal memorabilia such as books, childhood baseball albums and family photos of McConnell and Chao. The casework and trim throughout the exhibit featured stained maple and 9 glass wall artifact cases as well as one free standing vitrine. MurphyCatton was honored to play a role in building the gallery an the opportunity to pay tribute to the preservation of such important American and Kentucky history. |
