The Women's Pavilion's wall sconce is an exceptional branded element located in the Methodist Hospital in Henderson, Kentucky.  The sconce project contains quintessential MurphyCatton characteristics in that many functional challenges had to be overcome to create a perfect three dimensional replica of a two dimensional drawing.  The sconce is fabricated out of the mineral mica with an acrylic backing.  The letters and woman's figure are cut from brushed aluminum.  Special consideration had to be given to the differences in the expansion rate of the materials when heated by the back light.  The translucent nature of the material produces a golden, halo effect which projects warm, welcoming feelings towards anyone passing by.
