Riverboat Exhibition, Creative Discovery MuseumThis is the showcase exhibition for the Creative Discovery Museum, as it is prominently displayed in its two-story street-front window. The drama and visual impact of this exhibit, with its three-level climbing structure, the Riverplay watertable interactive and two-story Riverboat model play structure has a dramatic impact on yearly membership sales. The exhibition explores the relationship between Chattanooga and the Tennessee River. The waterplay element is designed to help children explore the hydrodynamic principles involved in the flow of rivers through locks and dams and the action of boats on water, all combined with good water fun. The Riverboat has many interactives designed to involve the child in the historical experience on life on the river. The child can steer the boat and study navigation through the Tennessee River, raise a flag, load cargo onto the boat with a funtioning crane and go fishing off the end of the boat. In this project, MurphyCatton, Inc. participated in the management of the process from the initial design phases, fabrication and installation. |
