The Living Stream Exhibition, Salato Wildlife Education CenterThe Living Stream at Salato Wildlife Education Center is a learning laboratory for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources in Frankfort, Kentucky. The Living Stream exhibition, which opened in July 2003, is a unique water environment modeled after Kentucky's own Elkhorn Creek. It features more than 15 species of fish native to the Elkhorn as well as inverebrates and plants in a fully operating man-made stream, complete with its own life-support system. The 22,000 gallon system's prominent feature is a waterfall that flows from a pond over a viewing window to allow the visitor to see all of the aquatic life in their natural habitat. MurphyCatton was there from the design conception through final training of the center's staff to enusre that the wildlife would live in this artificial environment for years to come. |
